A small studio with one rule.

Wallpapering Collective - Trinidad Edition is a four-person collective of wallpaper installers operating from a studio in Washington, DC. We have one rule: the wall is the brief.

[ Studio Brief ]

Why we work this way.

Most wallpaper failures we have been asked to fix were caused by the same handful of mistakes: a wall that was not prepared, a paste that did not match the paper, a layout that was not planned, or an installer who did not stay on site for the entire project. Every habit of our studio is built to make those mistakes impossible.

We started in 2009 with two installers and a small studio in the Trinidad neighbourhood. Today we are four masters and one shared workshop, but the size has stayed deliberately small. Bigger crews mean more handoffs, and handoffs are where finish quality goes to die. We chose another path.

Every project is led by one of our four masters from the first measurement to the final seam roll. We do not subcontract, we do not run multiple crews, and we do not take more work than we can finish to standard. If you see a quote come back from us, it is because we can be on your wall when we said we would.

Studio Standards

Three numbers we measure ourselves against.

Every studio has values written on a wall. Ours come with measurable definitions.

01

Substrate first.

Every wall gets skim, sand and primer in writing before paper is ordered. No paper is ever hung on an unprepared wall in this studio. Ever.

02

One installer per project.

The master who measured your room is the master who hangs your paper and the master who walks the wall back with you at the end. No handoffs.

03

Raked-light walk-through.

Every project ends with a raked-light inspection of every seam. If something is not invisible, we fix it before we pack the truck.
